The vision of the Pet Therapy program is to provide our residents with something they can love and care for, something which adds meaning to their lives.
The program provides companionship, love and lots of entertainment. Our facility has adopted two pet rabbits named Poppy and Clover from the community and the staff of Cortland Park support their care and health through a variety of fund raising programs. This program has truly helped transform our facility into a spontaneous, often unpredictable, but homey environment and has been a shining example of how much life pets can bring into a facility. Visiting pets are welcome with proper health records on file in the Activity Office and must be on a leash at all times.
We also have several volunteers affiliated with PAWS of CNY that bring their dogs for pet visits. Our current therapy dogs are a GoldenDoodle named Sadie, an Australian Cattle Dog named Toby, and Toby’s little sister Sasha who is a therapy puppy in-training.
